Party Planning

I am in the midst of planning Lydia's 4th birthday party. For those of you that know me, you know that I LOVE to plan a party. I have planned all of my girls birthday parties and they have all been for the most part at my home. I am not a big fan of having the parties at Chucky Cheese or bounce house places, water parks, roller skating rinks, etc. For some people it is great and this is the time when my girls get to go to those places ---when it is someone else's party.
I like to have themes for the parties. Themes make it easy for my imagination to wander with lots of ideas. I admit that I get carried away and go overboard sometimes, but after several parties I have learned how to do a fun party on a decent budget (for a lot less than what you'd have to pay at Chucky Cheese).

I guess that one reason why I LOVE to plan their parties is because it allows me to be creative. It really is fun for me to plan them and I like that I can use my creativity and talents to make a fun party and to make special memories for my girls.

Funny thing...whenever we go to other birthday parties, the girls always ask what the theme is for the party...sometimes they don't have themes and it is kind of funny for the girls to think through the idea of not having a theme. Ha ha! I guess Mama spoils them too much? Nah!

My girls are also at the age where they choose their own theme. For their first birthday, I chose flowers that coordinated with their actual "birth" announcements. Sophia was in general flowers and Lydia was Daisies and Rosi was roses!
Here are the other birthday themes we have done:

2nd Birthday:
  • Sophia - Strawberries
  • Lydia - Doggies

3rd Birthday:
  • Sophia - Princess Tea Party/ and an Art Party (we moved that year and had two parties)
  • Lydia - Little Mermaid Swim Party

4th Birthday:
  • Sophia - Pony Party (We even had a real pony to ride!)
  • Lydia - Piggy Party

5th Birthday:
  • Sophia - Tweety Bird

6th Birthday:
  • Sophia - Carnvial

So, I am in the process of planning Lydia's 4th Birthday and she has decided that she wants a Piggy Party. It is going to be a MESS of fun! In my next blog post, I will share with you my ideas and party planning process. Stay tuned...
