Okay, sing along with us now...Imagine the tune in your head......
Start spreading the news
I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it, New York, New York
These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
And make a brand new start of it
New York, New York
I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps
To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap
These little town blues
Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
If I can make it there
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York, New York.
Yes, we had an amazing time there! I wish I had time to talk details, but I will give you just the gist of our time there and send you a link for more exciting New York pics!
We only had a weekend together, just Ric and I....no chillins'! Yes, a second honeymoon.
We arrived early at 7:40am into New York. Took a cab to the hotel (Hampton Inn). Could not check in. We left bags there, ate complimentary breakfast and went to see Times Square.
Went to Ground Zero---very serene. The thoughts of it all and being there still makes my heart ache and a little teary eyed, especially seeing the mural of children's artwork--reflections about their loved ones.
Went to lunch--pizza! Checked into our hotel....rested....went to buy tickets for a broadway show. Got tickets for BEAUTY and the BEAST! Got Starbucks peppermint mochas. Walked around Times square. Went to hotel to change for evening out. Went to dinner at Nobu Nextdoor in the Soho district. Rode the subway. Yummo Sushi and Excellent Fig Martini---my favorite!! Took Subway to Times Square. Beauty and the Beast. Awesome----beautiful----beasty!
Got Pizza---yes pizza at around 11:00pm. Why? Because we could. Back to the hotel...Goodnight.
Back to hotel...to check out. We barely make the late checkout. Move our stuff over to our new hotel....5 blocks away. Yes, we walked! Our new hotel? Jumeriah Essex House (a five-star hotel located across from Central Park, near other 5-star hotels). Thank you Ric's work company! :) It was beautiful and grand! I felt important....like a VIP or something!
Shower! We had not had one in a few days. Off to lunch...Carmines restaurant. This is a family style restaurant. The dishes are HUGE...they feed 3-5 people per dish. We ordered salad and the special 4 pasta dish. Ummm, we could not finish it and it was very filling and very delicious! I only wish we had some friends to share it.
Went to church. Yes, there was an amazing church that Ric had been to several times while he visited New York.
Went to Upper West Side to a restaurant called Cleopatra's Needle (a Rachel Ray $40 a day reccomendation!) I had a Cleopatra Martini and Falafel platter. Ric had a beer. We listened to some Jazz. It was very nice. We both had dessert and some "special" coffees. Delicious. Back to hotel area...both gitty. Walked around a water fountain and shopping area next to Trump towers. Went to hotel for goodnight!
I got to be a part of it....New York, New York!

DAY 1
We took a red-eye flight (I love JET BLUE)! I got a sweet little shut-eye gift of eye mask, breath freshning lip gloss, lemony lotion, and earplugs! Plus, a bouquet of assorted snacks and drinks. And, you get free earphones and your very own TV with 36 channels of free TV! Go JET BLUE! Fly JET BLUE!We arrived early at 7:40am into New York. Took a cab to the hotel (Hampton Inn). DAY 2
woke up early....but almost late for our appointment to Liberty Island. We were to be there at 10:30am and were to catch the ferry at least two hours before tour. Ummm, awoke at 8:30am. No shower. Rush, rush, rush. Took Subway (pretty much took subway everywhere)....to Battery Park. Got "Will Call" tickets (yeah, no line). Went through Security check (ugh, long line). Caught the Ferry! Drifted over to Liberty Island. Smart Stinking Ric for getting tickets 48 hours in advance.....sold out! We went through more security and then had our tour of the Lady. Mostly a self-guided tour. She is one pretty lady. Unable to go up into her though, because of 9/11. They don't think they will ever open up that portion of her again. Bummer!Back to hotel...to check out. We barely make the late checkout. Move our stuff over to our new hotel....5 blocks away. Yes, we walked! Our new hotel?
