UPDATE - my health

So, I have been out for over a month -- is that my longest stretch yet??  I thought I would come back from my hiatus with at least a few photos to share.  Seriously, how much do we most enjoying looking at pictures on a blog.  I know I do.  So keep reading through to find some pictures for you to enjoy near the end.

This has been a rough month for me.  "God, I trust in YOU, because I know you are refining me in major ways."

It began back in January (probably earlier than that -however,)  when I realized that I was quite tired almost all the time -- this was not a "normal-mom-of-four-little-girls" kind of tired.  It was extreme fatigue.  I basically ignored the symptoms.  And it began to become increasingly worse.  I was even more forgetful,  in a fog most of the time, suffering with depression, and increased fatigue. I felt overwhelmed and stressed with most of "life"... I was being pushed over the edge with my health. I was not taking care of me.  Therefore, not being able to truly take care of my family either.   I kept pushing on... but, I knew that sooner or later I would have to comes to terms with my health.

I have not really had a regular Doctor for sometime.  It is so hard to find a Doctor that you really trust, feel comfortable sharing details to, and also that in turn they understand what you are dealing with. Plus, I did not want to go to a Doctor just to be pushed towards conventional medicines that would end up just masking the situation.   In years past, I had a Doctor (homeopathic, certified nutritionist) whom I LOVED...but, he was no longer working in my area.  sigh.

I ended up going to another "natural" Doctor recommended by a friend.  I was nervous.  God showed up to comfort me.  However, I felt during the conversation that my outcome was computer generated from my saliva and urine samples...plugged in... and then given some "stuff'' that most likely all his patients get.

Well, I think taking the stuff just pushed my body to the end.   My body went into a full blown flare-up that weekend.   I was miserable and on the verge of going to the ER several times.  We don't have health insurance for me, so I resisted going....  I was in bed for almost 3 days.

For those of you that don't know.  I suffer from CROHN's DISEASE.   I was diagnosed in the year of 2000.  I maintained in remission for 9 years through diet. Two years after my 3rd child was born, I had a flare-up.  I had to be put on medication and then was able to maintain again through diet.  I got pregnant again and did fine.  But, soon I was not eating healthy and not taking care of myself. Lack of exercise, unhealthy eating, stress, etc. ...  And wo years after my 4th baby, I have again suffered from a Crohn's flare-up.

It is a very frustrating disease.  Though, I know that God is my Emmanuel -- with me.   And, he is also my Healer!!   Right now, I am just taking it one day at a time.   Finding my limits.   Learning to say No.  Resting Lots.   And,  trying to be the best Mommy and Wife I can under these circumstances.

Hope to keep you updated as often as I can.

So, here are some  pictures of just a little bit about what is going on here in the Lil Daisies world.

So, what did you do this Summer?

Wow,  I am amazed how Summer has just flown by for our family.   And, if you asked me, "What did you do?"  -- I would seriously have a long drawn out pause and possibly a deer in the headlights kind of look too.

I am not really sure.

Swimming.

Uh...

Swimming.

Movies (sad, I know...but, when it is triple digits - who really wants to be outside??)

VBS

Swimming... (yeah,  pools are cool -- literally)

My girls each had their own special time with their Mimi & Poppie (Grandma, Grandpa) this Summer.  Each of them has about 2 weeks of  "one" time. Sweet Rosi only stayed for about 5 days - she is only 3.5 years old.  But, she had her first time away -By-my-self!  And loved it.   To be spoiled?  Indeed!

The two older girls enjoyed their time at camp.  Sophia at an overnight camp & Lydia at a daycamp.  Camp is such a great opportunity for kids.  I remember back when I was a wee little girl attending the VERY same camp.   There were so many good memories for me -- and it was where I first remember accepting Christ as my Lord and Savior!
Campfire Songs of "What-a-lee- atcha. What-a-lee-atcha. Doodley Doo. Doodely Doo."   and "Kumbaya my Lord." in a round of course.
Pond time,  Craft time, Shooting bow&arrows,  Shooting guns onto a target sheet,  making new friends,  trying really hard not to put your elbows on the table at meal time - or thus around the bathroom you shall go.
Fun times.
Good times.
Blessed times.

So happy my girls experienced that this Summer.

Well.... Summer is not over quite yet for us.  We have another month to enjoy Mr. Sun.  So... I have some ideas planned and some Summer yearnings that need to be met.

1. Camping.
2. Beaches
3. Making Ice-cream

I will let you know about the others on the list too.... in another post.

Summertime....to be continued......

Savvy, Spunky, Super-Fun, Silly, Sweet, SIX YEAR OLD!

Lydia

She is a Tomboy Princess!

It is the best use of words to describe my Lydia because she dabbles into the best of both worlds!
Lydia had a Star Wars birthday party this year!
Tomboy : She loves to get dirty with the bugs & worms (she has a heart to take care of those little squirmy creatures), swing on the monkey bars, ride fast & furious on her bike (doing tricks too), play outside games, --- she can keep up with the boys!  She holds her own for sure!
Lydia on her brand new bike she got from
Momma & Papa for her birthday

Princess:  Loves glitter & glamour,  wearing dresses or skirts all the time (and wears them with her twinkle toe sneakers), make-up & fingernail polish,  dolls, dance, sing.....

Lydia is quite spunky -- (she is my "strong-willed" child - she challenges me the most as a momma and God has taught me many things through her about Love, Grace, Mercy, Strength......Endurance.....Forgiveness....so much about parenting) -- however, she graces a sweet spirit that sometimes just sneaks in and surprises me.  I love her whimsical creative fun nature.

And her SMILE --- I  soak up the delight to see her smile!
This is a silly/excited smile -- I couldn't find
the "real" Lydi smile that I love amongst my pictures
Lydia, --- Wow, it is crazy that you are 6!  Your personality is growing stronger and stronger and it is really beautiful.  I love getting to know you more with all the time we get spend together on our dates. I love you to pieces lil' stinker -- my Lydi-bug.  Happy Birthday sweet precious girl.   You are my delight, my joy.   I rejoice in the day of your birth and thank God for the blessings HE has created within your life.

My prayer and blessing for Lydia this year as a six year old:   I pray that Lydia will find her hope and identity in Christ.  I pray that the "self" attitude she currently possess would transform into a "help & love others" kind of attitude. Lydia, I pray that you would step in and do things even if you don't want to.  I pray blessings of deep friendships, sisterly love, health, safety, joy.

A Play Dough Party

Let's all admit -- Play Dough is FUN!  I think it can be therapeutic as well.  Soft squishy dough squeezed through your fingers....creative & imaginative play..... laughter, creativity, joy....

It can be messy, but really EVERY child really does love to play with the dough!!
My girls decided that they would have a play dough party today.
They donned themselves with chef/artist hats & aprons! You must dress the part!
Out came the homemade play dough (recipe & links below)....and then came the creativity.

Honestly, they spent hours creating with play dough.
My dear Sophia wanted to preserve the memory of their creations with pictures.  (The play dough lasted only a week on the countertops before it dried up and was shamely put to rest in the garabage)
She plans to make a photo journal book of her "creations" -- what a great idea!  So, that is our next step in the creative process for my Daisy....to get a photo album and create the Play Dough Creations Journal!

Home Made Playdough
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tarter
2 cups of water
1 tablespoons mineral oil
food coloring
Mix all ingredients in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until stiff. Allow to cool, then knead.

THIS SITE was a great place to find all sorts of recipes for play dough!

Play dough Party was super fun!!
